Privacy Policy

1. Summary

PSKrep (“the App”) is a mobile client for PSKReporter.info built by Kaan Yaren (“we”, “us”). The App is designed with privacy by default: it does not require an account, does not ask for your name or email, and does not sell, rent, or share any of your data with third parties.

The only data the App retrieves is publicly broadcast amateur-radio reception reports from the public PSKReporter.info API and MQTT feeds. These reports are produced and published by third-party radio operators worldwide and contain only callsign, frequency, mode, SNR, location, and timestamp — never your personal information.

2. What data we collect (and don’t)

Data we DO NOT collect

• Your name, email, phone number, or any contact details.
• Account credentials (there are no user accounts).
• Advertising identifiers (IDFA / GAID) for profiling.
• Crash reports tied to your identity.
• Any analytics events that include personal identifiers.

Data the App accesses on your device

• Approximate location (foreground only) — used solely to draw your station’s position on the map and your propagation paths to stations reporting you. The App does not transmit this location to any server. It is stored locally on your device and removed when you uninstall.
• Local storage (SharedPreferences / NSUserDefaults) — used to remember your filter preferences, favourite bands, callsign lookup history, and a one-time ad_removed flag after the optional Pro purchase. No data ever leaves your device.
• Network requests — HTTPS calls to retrieve.pskreporter.info and the public MQTT broker to fetch live spot reports. Requests are made from your device directly to these public services.

Data PSKReporter sees

When you use the App, your device makes requests to PSKReporter.info using their public API. PSKReporter.info is an independent service operated by Philip Gladstone; please consult their own privacy policy for the data they may log on their side (typically standard server logs: IP address, user-agent, timestamp).

3. Permissions the app uses

You can revoke the location permission at any time from your device’s Settings. The App will continue to work; only your own station won’t appear on the map.

4. Third-party services

The App uses the following third-party services. Each operates under its own privacy policy.

• PSKReporter.info — the data source. pskreporter.info
• OpenStreetMap / MapLibre demo tiles — base map. openstreetmap.org/copyright
• Google AdMob — banner ads on the free tier. Google may use the device’s advertising identifier to serve ads. You may reset or limit ad tracking in your device settings. Google Privacy Policy
• Apple StoreKit / Google Play Billing — only invoked when you purchase the optional “PSKrep Pro” upgrade. Apple/Google process the payment; we receive a confirmation that the entitlement is active but no payment details.
• Firebase Analytics — anonymous, aggregated event counts (e.g. “screen viewed: Map”). No personal identifiers, no advertising linkage. You may opt out via your device settings or the in-app Analytics opt-out toggle in Settings.

5. Children’s privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any data from children. If you believe a child has used the App, please contact us so we can address the concern.

6. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes in the App or in applicable law. The “Last updated” date at the top will always reflect the current version. Material changes will be highlighted in the release notes on the GitHub releases page.
